When
shopping for Business Cards, pay
attention to the paper stock or weight of the business
cards a company is offering. You don't want to look cheap when you hand
out your business cards, but you don't want to blow your whole marketing
budget, either. Many printing companies print business
cards on flimsy paper stock (100 lb or 10 point). These
weights are ok for one color matte business cards but they're just about
useless for full color glossy Business Cards. Business Cards should feel like CARDS, not a post-it
note. At the moment, the industry standard seems to be about 12 point
for business card paper stock. This is acceptable, but 14 point is definitely
better. That's why our default standard is 14 point for business
cards and postcards. They feel solid and they feel like
cards.
We also offer upgrades to 16 point 'super-heavy' business card paper
stock for those who desire extra thick, heavy duty business cards. These can really set you apart from the crowd. They're tough and durable and feel substantial in your hand.
For the more conservative business person, we offer an elegant and stylish
matte finish on 14 point or 16 point business cards. We've recently added the option of rounded corners to all of our business card products, as well! The Die-Cut rounded corners take style and elegance one step further to make the most durable, professional looking business cards you'll find! These choices of business card paper stocks and finishes are available on the
order forms for every category of business cards on our site.
There are a myriad of choices out there for business card paper stock.
Most commonly, you'll find a choice between matte and glossy. But you
can also find plastic, metal and many other specialty business card
paper stock. I highly recommend looking at the cost effectiveness of
these other choices. My experience has been that a professional, eye-catching
design on full color glossy business card paper stock is just as effective
any of the other options out there and they're easier to carry around
than plastic or metal. If your full color glossy business cards have
UV coating (all of ours do) then they can also be more durable than
matte, linen, vellum or many others.
While
metal business cards, plastic business cards, foil stamping and even
business cards with holograms can be found on the Internet, the cost
far outweighs the return. Sure they have a big "WOW" factor,
but it really comes down to the information you provide on the business
cards and how professional they look. Do you want people to say, "Wow!
What a cool business card!" or do you want them to call you?
At the moment, full color glossy business cards are being produced
so efficiently that they have become one of the most affordable options
out there. In my professional opinion, full color glossy business card
paper stock is by far, the most cost-effective marketing tool you can
buy. See our various sections for Business Card Paper Stock prices.
